Butane types got tiring, much too many failures, flint expiring well before the fuel, nozzles clogging etc. Liquid fueled dry out too fast (and who really carries around a can of any type of flammable fuel?). I did the research and explored many electric arc styles. This one really impressed me. Yes, it is waterproof. The crossed arcs are hotter and the rubber tipped safety latch is resilient (plastic types wear down). Lighting a smoke or starting a campfire is quick and easy. The charging indicator is a plus and usb portals seem to be everywhere. I’m glad I went for the flashlight model, a very handy feature. The lanyard is nice to have too. Palm size, nonslip texture and lasting. Yes I’m very glad I chose this one and enthusiastically recommend it.
